On September 19th, the Campus Advisor released its latest rankings of the most livable university cities, based on various criteria and feedback from university students. The rankings evaluate cities on factors such as academic excellence, student-friendly atmosphere, value for money, cultural diversity, safety, and nightlife, among others. According to this 2024 survey, Pécs and Brno, home to Masaryk University, secured 13th and 14th place respectively on the list of Europe's best university cities. The results, compiled from over 17,000 student reviews, reflect real-life experiences and highlight the overall quality of life for students in these cities.
We are particularly delighted that Pécs and Brno appear side by side on this prestigious list, which is not only a recognition of the vibrant student life in these two cities but also a symbol of our years of joint work through the EDUC alliance in pursuit of common goals. The collaboration between our institutions has helped elevate the standard of university life and strengthened the bonds between our communities.
Behind the letters of EDUC (European Digital UniverCity) lies more than just words. The "C" represents both city and community – a reflection of the connections between university students, city residents, and the broader regional networks we belong to. This relationship between our cities and universities goes beyond physical spaces, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose.
As cornerstone members of the EDUC Alliance, Pécs and Brno’s high rankings further demonstrate the growing strength of our communities. Whether it's through initiatives focused on sustainability, smart cities, cultural events, or community programs, EDUC remains committed to supporting and strengthening these connections. We take pride in Pécs and Brno’s performance on this list and look forward to continuing our collaboration to provide students with the best opportunities and experiences while contributing to the development of culturally rich and sustainable communities.
