What happens when university life doesn’t end with graduation—but evolves into a lifelong connection?
At the University of Cagliari, that question came to life in a vibrant celebration of shared memories, future ambitions, and lasting community. The launch of the UniCa Alumni Association brought together former students, faculty, staff, and friends of the university at the ExMA cultural center—proving that the bonds built during university years can grow stronger over time, and across borders.
Rooted in the same values of connection and continuity, the EDUC Alliance was proud to take part in this milestone event.
On Friday, June 27, the University of Cagliari officially inaugurated the UniCa Alumni Association in the vibrant setting of the ExMA cultural center. The event brought together hundreds of people—former students, faculty, staff, and members of the wider community—in a celebration of shared stories, lifelong connections, and the continued impact of the University beyond its physical and temporal boundaries.
The Alumni Association is a project rooted in the idea that the University experience doesn't end with graduation. It is a lifelong connection—one that EDUC fully supports through its emphasis on mobility, transnational learning, and community engagement. During the event, many alumni shared inspiring stories of how their academic journeys in Cagliari became the starting point of international careers, all while maintaining strong ties with their hometown and university.
For EDUC, being present at this inaugural event was an opportunity to connect with former students, engage with future ones, and strengthen a network that goes beyond borders. It was a moment to share what the Alliance is doing today—offering innovative educational formats, promoting intercultural dialogue, working toward a European campus and creating opportunities for research collaborations within the EDUC-WIDE project—and to show how these actions are already impacting the territory by enriching the academic ecosystem and creating new spaces for collaboration and growth.
In this sense, EDUC and UniCa Alumni share a common vision: nurturing a sense of belonging and building a community that continues to grow, exchange, and inspire—locally and internationally.
As EDUC Project Manager, Daniela Ghiani puts it: “This event represented a valuable opportunity to present the EDUC Alliance to UNICA’s alumni, highlighting how being part of the alumni association enables networking with graduates from other EDUC partner universities and fosters collaboration with associated partners and companies — ultimately enhancing career opportunities. After all, the true wealth of a university lies in its students and graduates, who embody its values, excellence, and impact on society.”
